Q20: On starting financial education at a young age (SUSS Ministerial Forum 2019)

Financial education in primary school, I think we want to teach primary school children to save money, to stick stamps for their POSB,
to spend their money wisely, do not go and buy sweet soft drinks, brown rice is cheaper than the chai tow kway. These are things which we have to teach, but I do not think that you want to do it in a classroom. You have to do it. They have to learn how to handle money,
virtual cash and gradually grow up as well adjusted and well-socialised kids. I do not know if you have kids yet. But when you do, I hope you will do your part as parents, make sure they grow up knowing how to handle money.
