Pitt Online: School of Nursing School Nurse Certificate

The University of Pittsburgh School of
Nursing offers fully online graduate degrees and certificates, including the
School Nurse Certificate program. The 15-credit program is designed for graduates of baccalaureate nursing programs as well as current students or graduates of masters and doctoral level nursing programs. The curriculum can be completed in three terms and spans topics like health promotion and disease prevention,
physical examination across the lifespan, and diagnosis and management of
psychiatric conditions in primary care. The School Nurse Certificate will help a
school nurse or practitioner build a foundational skill set that will enable
them to promote healthy living, prevent disease in culturally diverse
populations, and address psychiatric conditions. Upon completion of the
certificate, students will be eligible to apply for the School Nurse Certificate
Education Specialist 1, which is issued by the Pennsylvania Department of
Education. The program will also help prepare school nurses for the National
Certification Examination for School Nurses. With highly qualified faculty
leading the way, the School of Nursing is well positioned to provide a high
quality online option for nurses seeking school nurse certification. Now that you
have more details about the online School Nurse Certificate program, we
invite you to submit an online application. Visit the “Apply Now’ page to
get started.
