MEP Study Visit to Israel – Day 1

MEP Study Visit to Israel – Day 1

– Israel is, as you can see, one big startup nation. It was founded 70 years ago. It was a barren country
with no natural resources and the first and most
important resources that we have is the creativity of the people. – It’s my first visit
here in Tel Aviv in Israel and I am more than impressed. I’m really, really impressed. We visited a lot of start-up undertakings. I learned that, you know, innovation, the start-up,
entrepreneurial spirit that is in the DNA of Israel. – There’s a huge opportunity in Israel, in the Israeli innovation ecosystem. I think that most of the
business world has realized that. And that’s the reason that more than 330
multinationals opened here. Massive activity starting from research and development
center with hundreds, thousands of employees, to
CVC, accelerators, and incubators, and many,
many other activities. – They have really a very good ecosystem which starts first with the
clear vision of government, cooperation inside the government
and then a whole cooperation with the education system,
with the research society, with the business sector, and what is the most
important, the role of army. – Europe can especially learn
that you have to concentrate on several thematic subjects, but also to have a
geographical cooperation to bring the best people together. We do it in several ups, but having 28, 27 member states that fight for that piece of the
cake won’t be the success. You have to target. You have to bring the best people together and this is in fact the learning point.
