How to rename a database in phpMyAdmin

In this tutorial we’re going to take a look at how to
rename a database in phpMyAdmin. This tutorial assumes that you have already
logged in to phpMyAdmin and are ready to begin. The quickest and easiest way to rename a
database inside of phpMyAdmin is to click on the
database itself. Once inside of that database you can select the
“operations” tab and once inside of the operations page you can just type in the new name you wish to
use. For example; “newname”. When you are ready to proceed click the
“go”button. The system will ask you to confirm that you are
about to create a database called “newname” and drop the old database labeled
“mydomain_test”. Select “OK” to confirm. Once everything has been done, you can reload your new database and everything is as it was, except with a new
name. Congratulations! You now know how to rename a
database inside of phpMyAdmin.
