Forum Activity on User Profiles

today we’re talking about the profile
page activity. In an earlier video we talked about the community activity page which you can see here. Different types
recent activity moderator activity, Administrator activity and each of these activity feeds has
information related to the activity happening within your community. However on the profile page this is just the activity is related to
a specific individual and you can also add comments right in
the box that can apperr in your activity fedd. For example, let’s add a status update What you need to you know is that the posts here is public so anyone can see it anyone
can also comment on them. As well if you have reactions
enabled people can react to your comment You cannot edit an activity post but you
can delete it or remove it should you decide that you don’t want it viewable. Now let’s look at it from a user
perspective. Users have the same thing as you can see here badges are awarded and they also have an activity feed as well. Members can also go ahead and comment on other people’s activity. For example, I’m logged as a user named Lewis and if I go onto the Admin’s page. I can see the comment and actually
respond. As you can see here is a comment on my activity page you can see who made the comment and a user has the opportunity to delete the comment if he decides he doesn’t want it to be there anymore. One thing to know on the overall for community feed is if I go to the
overall for community as you can see here the
comments are completely and totally public so just keep that in mind that any
discussion happen in the activity are completely and totally public to
everyone on the community. The public nature of the activity feed however is
just a default setting for your Vanilla community. The way that you can
change that would be to go into your roles and permissions and change the way that activity is
viewed by members guests and you can do that by going to the dashboard Go to roles and permissions. For example we can click on guests any you see here
there’s activity permission with a view ability, which can be unchecked. Click save. We could do the same thing for any
other role that we feel we don’t have access to view the activity
feed. If you’d like to have a private conversation with an individual in your forum or community the best idea is to start a
personal conversation which we’ve covered in an earlier video. You can access private conversations by clicking on the little inbox icon at the top of the mebox. And
that’s it for profile activity If you are a hosted Vanilla Customer and you need support you can contact us at vanillaforums.com/help/. If you’d like to know about future videos please subscribe. And finally if you’re not yet a Vanilla hosted customer and you’d like to learn more you can visit us at vanillaforums.com.
Thank you.
