Congressman: Why Should My ISP Know My Underwear Size?

Congressman: Why Should My ISP Know My Underwear Size?

OBVIOUSLY WE ARE CONCERNED
ABOUT CONGRESS DECIDING THAT YOU HAVE NO PRIVACY. THERE IS A LOT
OF DIFFERENT AREAS WE ARE WORRIED ABOUT. YOUR POLITICAL
SEARCHES CAN COME OUT AND BE SOLD. THIS CONGRESSMEN, MIKE CAPUANO,
HAS SPECIFIC CONCERNS ABOUT HIS PRIVACY BEING VIOLATED. LET’S GO TO HIS SPEECH. I HAVE A SIMPLE QUESTION, WHAT
THE HECK ARE YOU THINKING? WHAT IS IN YOUR MIND? WHY WOULD YOU
WANT TO GIVE OUT ANY OF YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION TO A
FACELESS CORPORATION FOR THE SOLE PURPOSE OF THEM SELLING IT? GIVE ME ONE GOOD REASON WHY COMCAST SHOULD KNOW WHAT MY
MOTHER’S MEDICAL PROBLEMS ARE? JUST LAST WEEK, I BOUGHT UNDERWEAR ON THE INTERNET. WHY
SHOULD YOU KNOW WHAT SIZE I TAKE? OR THE COLOR, OR ANY OF
THAT INFORMATION? THESE COMPANIES ARE NOT GOING BROKE,
THAT’S NOT THE SITUATION. THE INTERNET IS NOT IN JEOPARDY. THIS IS PLAIN AND SIMPLE. I DON’T GET IT, WHEN I WAS GROWING
UP I THOUGHT ONE OF THE TENANTS OF THE REPUBLICAN PARTY THAT I ADMIRED THE MOST WAS PRIVACY. THERE IS NOTHING IN TODAY’S SOCIETY THAT EVERY ONE OF US
DOESN’T DO EVERY DAY ON THE INTERNET, AND YET COMCAST IS
GOING TO GET IT. NOT BECAUSE I SAID IT IS OKAY. WHAT ARE YOU
GOING TO DO WITH IT? LOOK AT IT AND SAY MIKE TAKES A SIZE 38
UNDERWEAR. THAT IS GREAT. THEY ARE GOING TO SELL IT TO UNDERWEAR COMPANIES. LET’S GIVE
HIM ADS. BY THE WAY, MOST OF THOSE ADS ARE USELESS BECAUSE I ALREADY BOUGHT THE UNDERWEAR, I
DON’T NEED ANYMORE. BUT IT IS NONE OF THEIR BUSINESS. GO OUT
IN THE STREET, PLEASE LEAVE CAPITOL HILL FOR FIVE MINUTES,
FIND THREE PEOPLE ON THE STREET WHO THINK IT IS OKAY. AND YOU
CAN EXPLAIN TO THEM WE HAVE TO MAKE MONEY. YOU WILL LOSE AN
ARGUMENT EVERY SINGLE TIME AS YOU SHOULD, AND I GUARANTEE YOU YOU WILL FIND NO ONE WHO
WANTS THIS BILL PASSED ñ GENTLEMEN, YOU ARE OUT OF TIME. HE REMINDED ME OF WILL FERRELL
AND OLD-SCHOOL. AND THAT ANALOGY COMCAST IS WILL FERRELL. I LIKE THAT HE MENTIONED HIS
MOM’S HEALTH CARE, AND HIS UNDERWEAR. THEN HE JUST KEPT GOING BACK TO IT AND IT IS NOT A
METAPHOR. HE LITERALLY JUST DID THAT. I DO LOVE THAT. HIS LAST POINT IS GREAT. THIS IS THE
THING THAT GETS DEBATED AND EVENTUALLY GETS PASSED. I DON’T
THINK YOU COULD FIND THREE PEOPLE IF YOU EXPLAINED IT, WHO
WOULD SUPPORT THIS? IT IS NOT USED IN ADS
AGAINST THEM. IT IS A GREAT SYSTEM FROM
THEIR POINT OF VIEW. AND UNBELIEVABLE OPEN
AUCTION. IF WE ACTUALLY LIVED IN A DEMOCRACY AND YOU WENT TO THE
AMERICAN PEOPLE AND SAID WOULD YOU LIKE THE CHOICE OF HAVING
CORPORATIONS PROFIT FURTHER OFF OF YOU, WHICH YOU DON’T HAVE THE
CHOICE OF WHICH BROADBAND YOU CAN USE, SO YOU HAVE TO SIGN UP
WITH THIS PROVIDER, AND THEY GET TO MAKE MORE MONEY OFF OF YOU BY KNOWING YOUR INFORMATION. WHAT
YOU GET? NOTHING. WHO WOULD MAKE THE DEAL? IN A DEMOCRACY HOW WOULD THAT PASS? BUT WE
DON’T HAVE A DEMOCRACY. I NEVER THINK THESE
PEOPLE ARE EVIL GOT IT IS JUST A MATTER OF COMCAST THINKS HOW AM
I GOING TO MAKE MONEY? SO WHY WOULD I DO THAT DEAL? YOU HAVE
TO MAKE THAT DEAL ILLEGAL OTHERWISE OF COURSE THEY WILL DO
THAT TO MAXIMIZE PROFIT OFF OF LITERALLY YOUR ASS. WE HAVE A PETITION I BELIEVE. THEY THINK IT IS COOL TO TAKE YOUR PRIVATE BROWSER HISTORY. WHAT ABOUT DONALD TRUMP? WHAT IS HE SEARCHING FOR? WHAT KIND OF
UNDERWEAR DOES HE TAKE? I THINK WE ALL KNOW WHAT HE
IS SEARCHING FOR. I THINK OF OURS SHOULD BE
PUBLIC, THEN SO SHOULD HIS. I DON’T EVEN ñ I MADE A PREDICTION ABOUT
WHAT HE IS SEARCHING FOR. I WILL NOT SAY BECAUSE IT IS A
FAMILY PROGRAM. IT IS ABOUT THE FAMILY. I KNOW
PETITIONS ARE SUPPOSED TO BE SERIOUS BUSINESS, BUT YOU NEVER
KNOW 1 MILLION PEOPLE MIGHT SIGN THIS. THIS IS DEAD SERIOUS. BY THE
WAY HE COULD VETO IT. IF YOU DON’T WANT YOUR BROWSING HISTORY
OUT THERE DONALD, VETO IT. OTHERWISE GIVE US YOUR BROWSING HISTORY.

  1. Here's a question if someone out side of America uses an American based website to buy something online, because that persons details is now on an American server would those details be sold to the highest bidder?

  2. *Come on, we only know the privacy law is gonna get killed after Congress has already voted to repeal it. Why didn't I know it earlier!!!!?????? Of course Trump will sign it; there is not a lot we can do at this point!*

  3. The republican leaf Congress votes to block attempts to expose Trump's tax returns, but votes to scrap our privacy.

  4. The guy is an old school republican; pro-civil rights (anti-snooping laws), pro-universal health care, pro-environment, pro-social security, pro-foreign aid, anti-corporations (supported the Dodd-Frank Wall Street reform act) pro-american dream (pro-immigration). I LOVE HIM.

  5. after seeing his statue in s/f I bet he has to have hi underwear altered with that weird shape of his😊

  6. trump and his worshipers in congress will repeal anything with Obama's name associated with it. Obama could find a cure for cancer and these bastards would ban it.

  7. ISP providers – Verizon, AT&T, Comcast – have huge lobbies. This is purchased legislation. They took the "For Sale" sign on Capitol Hill down years ago. It is now sold. Senators Saunders and Warren are probably the two biggest advocates for low and middle class Americans – the very core of what are constitution was written to protect.

  8. Can some lawyers step up and sue the government on our behalf with a class-action suit? This harms all americans.

  9. cookies are already a thing, if i search around for a new computer and enter sites that have cookies, there'll be ads for computers all over the next day. The problem with this is that it's gonna become legal for there to exist companies that charge money for buying your information and making profiles for corporations you're seeking employment with, school you're applying to, or even the government. Discrimination is gonna become more and more taboo but behind closed doors anyone with money can buy your info and find out about your political views, sexual- and gender orientation, sicknesses, and use that to decide whether or not they're gonna hire you or give you funding or anything like that.
Insurance companies can hike up the price for you to get an insurance because they know you've been complaining about neck pain for weeks on facebook, a clothes store can decide not to hire you because they know what size you wear and they think it's too big.
People might even start buying info to blackmail people with!
I shouldn't even be paranoid because i don't live in America or any country that would ever do this but this shit is terrifying.

  10. I voted yes on your poll on the website! Not because I actually want to know what kind/color undies DJT is wearing (because there isn't enough brain bleach in the world…) but because I want to know what other hinky sh_t he's up to on our dime.

  11. So Kushner, 'not a relative,' gets to head another gaggle of rip-offs from Wall Street, while his wife takes care of his senile, perverted, treasonous Dad-in-Law, and we lose fraud protection and watch our a**es get sold online. Lordy, people. Who's the boss? We are: remember, Title 28 USC 1331!

  12. There are Go Find me drives on right now to raise money to buy these politicians web browsing history and publish it. SUPPORT THIS EFFORT.

  13. let's start a crow funding, to buy and publicise the browser history of everyone, who voted for it…. and the white house stafff incl. trump

  14. All you have to say is liberals are against this bill. And you can immediately get millions of people to automatically be for it. Don't even bother explaining what it's about (it won't matter).

  15. +1 for the woman behind him not making a facial expression when he brought up his underwear purchases. She looked like she may have been considering an expression when he mentioned color though.

  16. This guy is awesome. It's quite amazing to hear a congress person speaking so plainly & logically! He's saying what's in everyone's mind when they hear about this issue

  17. Obama was spying on everyone and he probably does know everyone's underwear size.
The Young Turds don't believe underwear is racist and xenophobic.

  18. Google and Facebook shouldn't be able to sell your shit either. There should be a class action lawsuit to force profit sharing between all users.

  19. congress sold our IP address because Russia will use this in the future to our detriment… Russia will discredit this country in the eyes of the world…Russia knows that the US is controlled by the all mighty dollar.. to our detriment. Russia will diminish the US and rise as the world "Stable" leaded.

  20. This guy puts it so well, people can't argue with it. It goes against privacy, against what The People want, and it shows how the republicans are in bed with corporations.

  21. In Denmark we pay extra per month to ISPs for the "Terror Law Fee". ISPs are forced to watch & keep record of all citizens internet traffic and they give the bill to consumers directly. The law was passed in a hurry and relative secrecy 10 years ago. Denmark a Democracy Americans are "envious" abou ;).

  22. Conservatives, this is YOUR representatives! If this isn't why you voted for them and you don't want this to pass, call them up and let them know!

If they refuse to represent you and are acting against your interests, vote em out!

  23. USA is not a democracy and never was. Its a common misconception.
    We are a republic.
We are considered a "constitutional republic" or a "democratic republic"

  24. I'm right winger, but I agree with the dems on this issue. Finally a normal video that doesn't simply bash Trump. The dems finally make sense on an issue.

  25. They WILL use any and all information they collect against you….if you rock the establishment or do ANYTHING they dont like

  26. No mic drop for Rep Capuano, eh? He seems so strangely… human… for a politician; I like! I've actually wondered about that same thing – which normal average person would be alright with this piece of shit law? And the buckets of puke who voted for it, what kind of extreme mental gymnastics spin have they come up with to push it as beneficial to any actual human? I mean, there's gonna be a town hall in their districts at some point…

  27. Donald Trump's search history:

    1. How to be president
    2. Younger mail order bride
    3. Breitbart.com
    4. How to make skin more orange
    5. Mexican gay porn
    6. How to increase size of hands
    7. Where do we keep the nukes
    8. Weather in Mar-A-Lago
    9. Hair glue
    10. Put belt around waist or around stomach

  28. We get endless gridlock when we try to pass a common sense law. On the other hand, they pass harmful shit like that before anybody could say Whaaat?

  29. Lol republicans can't survive this one. Holy shit teens in 2024 are gonna be like what the hell is a conservative?

  30. funnily internet browsers have been doing this for years now. ISP's are just wanting to get a piece of the pie. Why should these browsers make all the profit off selling cookies to corporations when we provide the Internet?lol I disagree but i can't blame comcast and other ISP's for wanting piece of the pie. Use firefox in private browsing. problem solved.

  31. I've been wondering only one thing about Donnie for the last 20 years; Do the curtains match the drapes?

  32. Because it's more important for private corporations and the government to know our underwear size than for us to have knowledge of an elected official's tax returns, right Donny?

  33. Aren't the cookies on our browsers already bombarding us with ads. I search a website then a second later the ad is next to my Yahoo email. I think about purchasing an item from my laptop, a second later the ad for it is on my cell phone's Facebook page. So these fools are getting rid of our privacy for marketing that is already being forced upon us right now! What's the point?

  34. As someone who is born and raised in Massachusetts, this is such a Massachusetts way of making your point. I love it.

  35. I like the idea that if you could voluntarily opt in to the program you'd agree to have your info sold provided that there would be a 30 / 70 (for you) split between you and your ISP.

  36. Just go to the ISPs and we can band together to buy the browsing history of politicians who don't think it's a big deal and then have it posted online. I'm sure they will quickly change their tune.

  37. Long over due as Snowdon told everyone that the govt. was doing it ,now Comcast . make it so illegal noone would do it , death by a thousand cuts or something, this from someoone who is a pacifist and doesn't support the death penalty. Well, invasion of privacy o this scale it is waranted.

  38. How ironic that the party the screams about freedom the most are the same party bringing us closer to an Orwellian dystopia.

  39. If this gets passed I'm going to purposefully make my internet browsing history as weird and disconnected as possible. I think I'll start by googling "assless chaps" and take it from there.

  40. How is the girl in the background not even cracking a smile? I am listening to this at work and started bursting out laughing LOL

  41. Trump has in his towers and homes custom VPN / tunnel with physical firewall and servers, massive crypto, etc. and multiple internal users and admins. So nobody is going to exploit his browsing history or steal his identity.

  42. Some one should get the browser histories for all politicians and supreme court members and post it online for all to see…

  43. Since nothing has changed people on the web from getting your underwear size, this argument is pointless. The argument is, are we willing to put our internet and free speech in the hands of a few people outside of our country who have the ability to shut down political speech they don't like. You know, like our IRS, who blocked conservative groups from getting tax free status. After the last four years, when Democrats cry injustice, then I hear, you're affecting my way to get re-elected, control the way you live your life, steal money from tax payers, bla bla bla. Sorry, your fault, you established your reputations with your behavior.
