  2. Regenerating hydrogen fuel using solar panel is a cool concept! Imagine we can come up with ultra compact parallel fuel cells capable of driving a commercial airliner in the future. That'd be awesome! :3 

  3. I don't get the point of this video. Fuel cells have been used for years and years. Boeing's Phantom Eye uses hydrogen as a fuel source, albeit through combustion.

    Are you all looking into developing propfans and active laminar flow control systems further?

  4. Electrolysis is very inefficient, as is fuel cell technology. Instead of treating the hydrogen as a battery, it would be better to invest in battery technology to reduce the Wh/kg and price per kWh. Overall a much more efficient system.

  5. Nice to see this progress. There was also a closed-loop regenerative system intended for high altitude, long-endurance flight by another manufacturer. Sadly it suffered some accident(s) and I'm not sure of the current status.

    Whats wrong with batteries? Or build your own version of the General Dynamics nuclear powered MQ-9 Reaper?

  8. Imagine if additional water could be harvested by flying thru a cloud or underneath a convenient rain shower, or dipping down to filter siphon from a lake, ocean, or… backyard pool? Ha ha Then we will surely know our engineering is quite advanced and fully sustainable! 🙂

  10. Question: could you not design a aircraft to have a mast that would extend out the back of the aircraft. Say 2/3 its length. Use a parachute to deploy it. As boom extends opening a bladder the whole length of mast. small controlled burn of jet fuel.

    You would be nose down. How much could you reduce you desent to?

  11. Replace the APU with this thing. You won't use fuel to power the APU. Or use it to power up the lights in the cabin or stuff like that…

  12. wow that means less fossil fuel on the aircraft,less emission, less noise, clean (always) available source, and bring us to the weight of the aircraft stored in its wings to contain the fuel=less weight the airplane has to carry which means the design of the aircraft could change and allow for more new design concepts and also more efficient maintenance, never the less a more convenient flight for the passengers and their luggage, changing the experience of getting on board.

    innovation by all means that affects every sector in aviation.

    also this technology could be transferred to factories where the aircraft is being built, clean energy to power the plant which gives us clean green aircraft industry by flying with this technology and also by building the aircraft itself.

    Game changer technology indeed.     

  13. it's not hard for me to fly my hobby grade UAV for 4 hrs+ on batteries, and i charge from solar cells direct, no need for hydrogen, if my aircraft were slightly larger, and i had a few bucks to spend on composites, it could fly all day,  no need for hydrogen…..

  14. next is the nano tech batteries that have no refuse signature and last a long time keep the faith my boeing  // this will change the world of refuse wich is haveng to destroy the enviromental safty of the world/ /thanks very much for the effert

  15. I've actually come up with a new engine concept combining a uhb with a turbofan running on hydrazine, alcohol, and magnetic housings for the fan to keep the engine going
