Around Moodle in Under 10!

>>Courses offered through LSU Online are
located in LSU Online Moodle. LSU Online Moodle can be accessed at lsuonline.moodle3.lsu.edu. You’ll be redirected to log in with your myLSU
credentials Once logged in, you will be able to view the courses in which you are enrolled
in three ways. You can use the search courses field, located
under the resources buttons by entering the name of your course in the search bar and
clicking go. You can then select the course from the lists
of results. Additionally, a list of courses can be found
on the homepage under my courses. From this list, you can click on the title
to navigate to the course page. Lastly, a list of courses can be found by
clicking on the My Courses link at the top right of the page. From this list, you can click on the title
in a course card and navigate to the course. The My Courses Page displays your courses
as individual course cards for easy navigation to each course. If you are enrolled in or are teaching multiple
courses, you can move specific courses to the top of the page or set them as a favorite
by clicking the star in the upper right corner of the card. The deadlines list, located here on the right
side of the page, features all upcoming deadlines, due dates, and open assignments for a course. This list can be used as a grading shortcut. Click on the title of an activity from the
list to be brought directly to that activity within your course. If you would like to see an overview of all
dates for activities within your courses, click on View My Calendar at the top right
at the deadlines list. The Moodle calendar will show scheduled events
and due dates for course activities. You can also add new events to the calendar,
like your online office hours or any personal deadlines you set for yourself. Below the deadlines list, you will find the
grading list. Once a student submits an assignment or activity
for grading, the assignment will appear here. This provides you with a way to check on the
status of assignments without having to enter your course. Here, you can see any recent forum posts made
by your students. For quick access to the posting, click on
the title and go directly to that post. You also have the option to view your own
post by clicking on View My Forum Posts on the top right of the Forum posts list. The My Courses page is also where you can
access your Moodle profile and preferences. The default preferences in Moodle were chosen
to provide you with the best experience. However, if you would like to make any changes,
you can do so by clicking on your name in the purple banner at the top left of the My
Courses page. You can also edit or add information about
yourself to your profile from the profile and preferences page. However, you will not be able to change your
profile picture within this area. Let’s navigate to a course to take a closer
look. The LSU Online template helps to maintain
an element of consistency from module to module and course to course. Here, on the left, you will see a list of
module titles similar to a table of contents. Typically, LSU Online courses will feature
seven modules. To navigate to a specific module, click on
the module title. At the bottom of the table of contents, you
will see the Course Tools link. From here, you can access the course settings,
grade book, course roster, and Moodle Mail. Moodle Mail gives you a quick and easy way
to email the entire class or a single student without having to leave Moodle. It is linked to your LSU email address, so
all replies to a message sent through Moodle Mail will appear in your LSU email inbox. It is recommended that instructors use their
official LSU email address for all course-related communication. Moodle Mail may not automatically be available
to students in your course, but you can enable it from the Course Tools. Before moving on, let’s return to the course
homepage. You can do so by clicking on the course title
at the top of the page. Several of the tools and features located
in Course Tools can also be found in the admin menu. To access your admin menu, click on the gear
icon at the top right of your screen. From here, you can access core settings and
features. We are going to take a closer look at Users
and Grades. Selecting Users in the admin menu or Course
Tools will allow you to view the full roster of users and students enrolled in your course. Selecting Enrolled Users will allow you to
check the assigned role of each user as well as their last access to the course. Use the filter at the top to locate a specific
user by their name or role in the course. If you are using groups in your course, you
can also filter the roster by assigned groups. If you need to enroll additional users to
your course, such as a TA, you can do so from this page by selecting Enroll users. Like in Course Tools, selecting Grades from
the menu will open the basic course grade book and enable the grade administration menu
in your admin menu, and at the top left corner of the page. From the grade administration menu you, can
access every part of the Moodle grade book. Selecting Gradebook setup will bring you to
the grade book set up page as well as enable the grade administration menu. To leave a course or to return to the LSU
Online homepage from another area in the Moodle, click on the LSU Online logo at the top left
of the page. This concludes our quick tour of Moodle. For more information on the topics covered
