The American Academy of Forensic Sciences
has developed a mobile web application. To install the application instead of going to
the app store you need to open a web browse, Safari on iOS devices and Chrome on Android
devices. Navigate to aafs.org, and on the home page, scroll down to the quick links
panel and select AAFS Mobile Application. When you first follow this link some on-screen
instructions will appear letting you know what to do. You can add this webpage to you
home screen so that it functions just like any other app you have.
We select the icon that it instructs, and press the add to home screen. Here we can
change the name that we want displayed, but we will leave it as is.
Now when we launch the application we don’t have the URL bar or navigation at the bottom.
You can login using your AAFSID as your user name, and then use your password.
Select the remember User Name and Password for easy access back into the app.
Upon signing in you are taken to your basic information.
Take note of the email address as this is where correspondence will be sent through
the app. If we touch the navigation menu we can move
to different areas of the app, lets first go look at the meeting documents.
Now select the document group, and the documents you have access to will appear below.
Now you can download them to your phone, or email them to yourself by simply tapping the
button. A new feature this year is the ability to
browse the AAFS Job postings. You can scroll through the listings or search for key words.
If you select view button you, can see the full listing. And if you want to save the
posting for future reference at the bottom of the page press the “Email Me This Job”
button and the app will send you a full summary of the job to your email.
